VIDEO COUNTERPART - [link]

My version of Photoshop is CS5.5 not the newest but it works a treat, this tutorial isn't aimed at true beginners of Photoshop, for that there is YouTube! This is for people that are dabbling or have the hang of things mostly.

This is the second part!!

"Make a layer above your base colour and then hold down ALT, put your mouse between these two layers and it will turn into a little symbol of two circles overlapping, left click and then the layer will move the right with a little arrow pointing down to the base. Now anything you put on this new layer will not go over the base layer lines so you can be as messy as you want!"

WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I NEEDED YOU!! (or at least this piece of information) I have had SO MANY unecissary frustrations over painting and erasing and messing up and ARGH!! I saw this before on a video ages ago, but it didn't explain how they did that. I've been looking for the video and this info ever since! THANK. YOU. SO. MUCH.Love :emote: ashe tackles kazzy

How does the eye dropper tool work? I'm curious because I use Photoshop Elements and I might get Photoshop, if I think it will prove more useful.

It's easy peasy, you just select the tool and then once it's selected right click on the colour you want to use, it will show up in the little box to the left and then you can change to the paintbrush tool to carry on colouring :)

It's things like grouping the colour layers together that I didn't know about; HUGELY useful, no more zoomed in to 1600% erasing tiny smudges of colour
